Fatal Salem double homicide deaths of Andrew Ross Guempel and Jonathan Thompson – Obituary

Authorities in Salem, Massachusetts, have confirmed the identities of two men found murdered in a wooded area near the Walmart on Highland Avenue.

The victims were identified as 41-year-old Andrew Ross Guempel of Arizona and 42-year-old Jonathan Thompson of Oregon.

Police were alerted to the scene on April 23 when a man walking his dog discovered one of the bodies near 450 Highland Ave.

Following the discovery, investigators launched a homicide investigation that led to the arrest of 30-year-old Jay Blodget. Blodget faces two murder charges and appeared in Salem District Court last week. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on May 28 as the case proceeds.
