Fatal Greenville, South Carolina shooting death of Brite Shalom Acoy – Obituary

Authorities in Greenville County have charged 31-year-old Shawnteza La Shay Sherman and a 16-year-old with murder following a tragic shooting that left one child dead and two others injured.

The incident occurred at an apartment where three victims, including 5-year-old twins and an 18-year-old, were caught in the gunfire.

The Greenville County Coroner identified the deceased child as Brite Shalom Acoy, who died from a gunshot wound. Her twin brother, Journey Acoy, remains hospitalized in critical condition. The 18-year-old victim is expected to recover fully.

Sherman faces charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and criminal conspiracy.

She was denied bond during a court hearing held on Saturday. Community members came together Monday night to mourn the loss of Brite and to support Journey as he continues to fight for his life.
