Fatal Readfield car crash death of Carl A. Hall – Obituary
Authorities have released the names of the two individuals who lost their lives in a fiery single-vehicle crash that occurred on April 21 in Readfield, Maine. Carl A. Hall, 25, of Mount Vernon, was behind the wheel, and 28-year-old Emily R. Ouellette of Auburn was the passenger when their SUV collided with a tree and caught fire on Route 17.
The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office stated that the crash involved a Ford Flex, which was suspected to have been the same vehicle that a Maine State Police trooper observed speeding—reportedly going over 70 miles per hour—on North Road shortly before the incident. The trooper lost sight of the SUV and continued to search the area until discovering the crash site near 1084 Main Street.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and EMS crews, were quickly dispatched to the scene, but both Hall and Ouellette were pronounced dead.
Investigators believe that excessive speed played a role in the vehicle veering off the road and striking a large tree, resulting in the fatal blaze. The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to the victims’ families as the community mourns the tragic loss.
