Cathleen Kochheiser dies in fatal Capitol Forest shooting

Fatal Capitol Forest shooting death of Cathleen Kochheiser – Obituary

Cathleen Kochheiser, 62, of Olympia, died after being shot in Capitol Forest on the evening of April 24. The Thurston County Coroner confirmed her identity following the incident, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. in a remote area west of Olympia.

According to authorities, deputies and emergency crews were sent to the scene after a report of a shooting. However, due to the lack of cell phone reception in the area, the individual accompanying Kochheiser had to drive elsewhere to contact emergency services. Despite efforts to transport her for medical care, she succumbed to her injury before she could be airlifted to a hospital.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office has labeled her death as suspicious and continues to investigate. Officials reported that the gunshot struck her in the lower chest. The person she was with has shown partial cooperation with the investigation but has not been fully forthcoming.
