Fatal Sequoyah County truck crash death of Derick Turner – Obituary

A tragic accident early Tuesday morning on Interstate 40 in Sequoyah County claimed the life of 47-year-old Derick Turner, a truck driver from Arkansas, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Authorities say the crash occurred around 6:07 a.m. near mile marker 323. Turner, who was driving a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck, veered left off the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and continued traveling through the median before hitting a concrete wall.

The impact caused the truck to plummet nearly 50 feet onto Old US-64, where it came to a stop and ignited. Emergency responders pronounced Turner dead at the scene.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the road, and the crash remains under investigation
