Fatal Dawson Creek, B.C. homicide death of Emily Ogden – Obituary

Authorities in Dawson Creek, British Columbia have identified the body of 24-year-old Emily Ogden, whose remains were discovered on April 14 following her disappearance several weeks earlier.

Ogden, who had been reported missing from Fort St. John on March 29, was confirmed deceased by RCMP on April 24. Investigators are treating her death as a suspected homicide and are appealing to the public for any information on her whereabouts or contacts from the time she went missing to when her remains were found.

Described as five feet ten inches tall with light brown or blonde hair, brown eyes, and a distinct honeycomb tattoo on her neck, Ogden’s disappearance and death mark the latest in a troubling string of violent crimes affecting the Dawson Creek area.

Sgt. Kris Clark urged anyone who may have seen or spoken with Ogden during the weeks she was missing to come forward, as RCMP continues their investigation into the circumstances of her death.

Her death contributes to a pattern of rising violence in the small community of about 12,400 residents. Since 2021, at least 11 individuals have either gone missing or been murdered in the region, a significant increase from previous years. The troubling trend has led to additional law enforcement resources being allocated to the city as it grapples with the surge in violent crime.
