Felix Rojas arrested in connection with NYC subway sxl asslt and death of Jorge Gonzalez
Felix Rojas, 44, was charged with rape in the first degree following the death of a subway rider in Lower Manhattan. Police reported that Rojas sexually assaulted Jorge Gonzale, 37, who was found unconscious on a southbound R train near the Whitehall Street–South Ferry station in the early hours of April 9. Surveillance footage showed Gonzalez passed out after smoking a cigarette. Authorities believe Gonzalez may have died from cirrhosis due to alcoholism, as suggested by his estranged wife. Police are also seeking a woman who allegedly stole property from Gonzalez on the same train. Rojas, a Brooklyn resident with no prior arrests, was apprehended on Sunday evening and is pending arraignment. Investigations are ongoing.
