Fatal San Antonio 18-wheeler crash death of Jose Natividad Olmedo – Obituary

Jose Natividad Olmedo, 36, has been identified as the driver who died early Tuesday morning in a fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler on Loop 410 in San Antonio, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police reports indicate that Olmedo was operating an 18-wheeler in the eastbound lanes of Loop 410, between the I-35 interchange and Starcrest Drive, when his vehicle struck a concrete barrier. After hitting the barrier, the truck collided with several road signs, tipped over, and caught fire.

Olmedo was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:20 a.m. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A rideshare driver who witnessed the incident said the truck suddenly veered into the barrier and burst into flames on impact. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with officials uncertain whether fatigue or a critical driving error played a role.

Emergency crews from the San Antonio Police Department and San Antonio Fire Department responded to the scene. Loop 410 was closed in both directions for about nine hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and conduct an investigation.
