Leo Rich dies in fatal Lawton flood incident

Fatal Lawton flood death of Leo Rich – Obituary

On Saturday, April 26, 81-year-old Leo Rich of Lawton tragically lost his life after his vehicle was overtaken by floodwaters. The incident occurred at the train underpass on Southwest 2nd Street, just south of F Avenue. Lawton police recovered Rich’s body from his submerged car later that afternoon.

Rich, a decorated Vietnam War veteran and retired military service member, had faced health challenges in recent years, including dementia and cancer. His former daughter-in-law described him as a beloved figure within the family. As the area continues to deal with flooding, authorities have closed the affected intersection to traffic until conditions improve.
