Fatal Skyline shooting death of Luis Godinez Gonzalez – Obituary

Luis Godinez Gonzalez, 56, was fatally shot on Sunday morning at his residence in the Skyline area of San Diego in an incident allegedly involving his adult son.

San Diego police responded to a call around 8:30 a.m. after a witness reported hearing a gunshot and spotting a man, later identified as 35-year-old Adrian Raul Godinez, walking nearby with a firearm. Officers were then alerted to an attempted robbery and non-injury shooting at a local liquor store in the same vicinity.

During their search, officers observed Adrian Godinez entering the backyard of the house he shared with his father. Blood was visible on both the suspect and the front area of the home, prompting officers to secure the scene and request SWAT support.

As officers waited for the tactical team, they saw the suspect handling a firearm and partially undressing before eventually surrendering peacefully after discarding the weapon and putting his clothes back on.

Upon entering the home, police discovered Luis Godinez Gonzalez suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators believe the fatal shooting took place roughly 30 minutes before the reported attempted robbery. Adrian Godinez was arrested and booked on charges of murder and attempted murder and is currently being held without bail.
