Fatal St. Cloud, Minnesota disappearance death of Shannah Boiteau – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that the skeletal remains found over the weekend in St. Cloud belong to 23-year-old Shannah Boiteau of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, who had been missing since June 2016.
St. Cloud Police were alerted around 12:20 p.m. Saturday by a property owner who discovered what appeared to be human remains near County Road 74. Law enforcement officers, alongside agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, responded to the scene and recovered the remains.
The location was close to where Boiteau was last seen nearly nine years ago. The remains were examined by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, which positively identified them as Boiteau’s. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
Boiteau vanished on June 22, 2016, after reportedly fleeing her boyfriend’s vehicle during an argument. Authorities had speculated at the time that she may have left Wisconsin due to a warrant related to a probation violation.
Her disappearance led to an extensive search effort in the area.
