Fatal South Boston motorcycle crash death of Waverly K. Pannell Jr. – Obituary

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Waverly K. Pannell Jr., a 35-year-old resident of Halifax, tragically died following a motorcycle collision near the intersection of Old Halifax Road and Halifax Road in Halifax County. According to the Virginia State Police, Pannell’s 2006 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle was heading westbound when it collided with a 2012 Hyundai Tucson making a left turn from the opposite direction.

Despite wearing a helmet, Pannell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tucson, 65-year-old Nancy L. Massie of Halifax, was unharmed. The crash remains under investigation, and charges are still pending.
