Fatal Twickenham stabbing death of Harpal Singh Roopra – Obituary
Harpal Singh Roopra, 38, was discovered with multiple stab wounds late Saturday night on Ellerman Avenue in Twickenham, southwest London, and was declared dead at the location, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The emergency call came in at 11:39 p.m., prompting officers to respond swiftly to the scene in the Richmond upon Thames borough. Authorities confirmed that Roopra succumbed to his injuries before medical help could be rendered.
Detectives have since arrested and charged 45-year-old George Luka, who resides on the same street, with murder. Police revealed that both men lived in the same converted multi-occupancy residence and were housemates at the time of the incident.
Specially trained officers are currently providing support to Roopra’s family as the investigation unfolds. Luka was scheduled to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the following morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command stated that a dedicated team is working to uncover how the deadly event transpired. She extended condolences to the victim’s loved ones and confirmed that police presence would remain in the area as forensic work and interviews continue.
