Fatal La Quinta golf cart incident death of Jeff Sperbeck – Obituary

Jeff Sperbeck, 62, who formerly represented NFL legend John Elway as his agent and business partner, passed away Wednesday following an injury he sustained last weekend in La Quinta, California.

Authorities have not confirmed the exact cause of death, but the Riverside County coroner’s report noted the injury occurred on Saturday at The Madison Club, a luxury golf resort in the area.

Emergency crews from the Riverside County Fire Department responded to a call involving a golf cart accident that day. According to spokesperson Maggie Cline De La Rosa, an individual fell from the cart and was transported to a trauma facility. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sperbeck’s professional journey with Elway began in 1990 while Elway was still quarterbacking for the Denver Broncos. Over the course of thirty years, Sperbeck represented over 100 NFL athletes, becoming a trusted advisor and friend to Elway. He played a significant role in overseeing Elway’s diverse business interests, ranging from restaurants and car dealerships to a winery.

In 2015, Sperbeck and Elway partnered with winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. to launch 7Cellars by John Elway. Earlier in his career, Sperbeck co-founded Sullivan & Sperbeck, a sports marketing company that Octagon acquired in 2001. He led Octagon’s football division until 2009, when he established The NOVO Agency. As its CEO, he continued managing NFL talent until the firm merged with Rep1 Sports in 2018.

Beyond sports, Sperbeck was active in philanthropy. As of now, John Elway has not publicly addressed his passing.
