Fatal west Lincoln pedestrian crash death of John Gross – Obituary

John Gross, 62, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in west Lincoln on July 20. Authorities said the driver, 31-year-old Vanessa Williams, pleaded no contest to charges related to the fatal incident.

According to court records, Williams was driving westbound on West O Street near Sun Valley Boulevard when she veered into the eastbound lanes and hit Gross, who was sitting in the median near a traffic sign. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An arrest affidavit revealed that Williams was under the influence of multiple drugs, including narcotics, stimulants, and depressants. Investigators discovered a pipe with burnt marijuana residue in her car, along with methamphetamine and psilocybin.

Williams has been convicted of motor vehicle homicide with reckless or willful reckless driving and two counts of drug possession. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 30.
