Keith Scott dies in fatal Victoria shooting

Fatal Victoria shooting death of Keith Scott – Obituary

Family members have confirmed that 34-year-old Keith Scott was the man found dead after a fire at a supportive housing unit on Gorge Road East in Victoria. Fire crews responding to the blaze on Saturday discovered his body inside the unit, prompting an investigation now being treated as a suspected homicide.

On Tuesday, officers from Victoria’s Public Safety Unit, alongside other law enforcement personnel, conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area, including Cecelia Ravine Park. Neighbors expressed their shock, describing the neighborhood as typically peaceful.

Scott’s girlfriend, Victoria Leonard, said police were able to identify him through a tattoo on his neck bearing his daughter’s name and birth date. She remembered him as someone full of love and kindness, who was focused on building a better future after his release from prison in 2024.

Following his time in the Lower Mainland living with his mother, Scott relocated to Vancouver Island to be near his daughter. Leonard shared that he had made great strides toward rebuilding his life, and the couple had been planning their future together, including marriage and having a child.

The investigation is now in the hands of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit, as Scott’s family and loved ones seek justice and answers surrounding his death.
