Fatal Bergen County man found dead on rugged New York hiking trail death of Linhu Jin – Obituary

Linhu Jin, a 54-year-old resident of Palisades Park, was found unresponsive on the challenging Devil’s Path trail in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Authorities reported that he was discovered by fellow hikers around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 24.

New York State Police were called to the scene on Sprucetown Road in Lexington, where they confirmed Jin’s death. There is no indication of foul play, according to the police report.

The Devil’s Path, spanning 24 miles, is regarded as one of the most demanding hiking routes in the region, with many steep ascents, descents, and limited water sources. As a result, it requires meticulous preparation, even for seasoned hikers.

Several agencies, including the New York State Forest Rangers, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lexington Fire Company, have been involved in the investigation.
