Fatal Leavenworth County car crash death of Shane Greiner – Obituary

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Leavenworth County, Kansas, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Shane Greiner from Kansas City, Kansas.

Just before 8:30 a.m., a 2025 Honda Civic, driven by 18-year-old Kaiden Jimenez from Lawrence, veered off the road while traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near the Service Area.

The car hit two drain tubes, continued through a ditch, and reentered the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a 2023 Mercedes-Benz van driven by 34-year-old Jonathan Brown of Kansas City, Missouri.

The impact caused the Honda to rotate and roll into a south ditch, while the van slid backward through the ditch before striking an embankment and flipping onto its driver’s side. Greiner, a passenger in the van, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS teams transported Brown to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and Jimenez was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, all individuals involved were properly restrained.
