Fatal Montgomery, Illinois car crash death of Jason Messick – Obituary

Jason Messick of Oswego was killed in a tragic collision involving a semi-truck and a black Nissan sedan earlier this week in Montgomery, Illinois.

Authorities from Montgomery Police and the Oswego Fire Department responded around 5:17 p.m. to the scene at the intersection of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive. According to officials, the sedan collided with a semi-truck while the truck was making a turn.

When emergency responders arrived, they discovered the sedan trapped beneath the semi-truck. Jason Messick, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area was shut down for several hours as investigators from the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and Illinois State Police examined the crash site.

Initial findings indicate that Messick’s vehicle was heading south on Route 31 when the semi-truck, traveling northbound, attempted a left turn onto Caterpillar Drive. Despite efforts to stop, the truck driver was unable to prevent the impact.

An autopsy is planned for Friday, and the official cause and manner of death will be determined following both autopsy and toxicology results.

The crash is still under active investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Kane County team, and Montgomery Police. Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Lindholm at 331-212-9050 or via email at llindholm@ci.montgomery.il.us.
