Paul Bagby, 57, of Sands Township, Michigan, was killed Wednesday evening in a single-vehicle side-by-side crash.

The accident occurred around 6:09 p.m. on a trail off Young Road, where Bagby, the only occupant, crashed into a tree while driving the side-by-side. Despite efforts by sheriff’s deputies to perform life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities believe alcohol, speed, and the lack of a seatbelt may have contributed to the crash, though the investigation is still ongoing. The incident has drawn assistance from the Michigan State Police, Sands Township EMS/Fire, Rescue 131, and UP Health System EMS.
