Fatal Ashland, Kentucky shooting death of William Mohler – Obituary

William Mohler, a 29-year-old man from Charleston, lost his life Tuesday evening during an encounter with police in Ashland, Kentucky. The Kentucky State Police are handling the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

Authorities say the Ashland Police Department responded to a burglary and trespassing call around 7 p.m. on Blackburn Avenue. By the time officers arrived, Mohler had reportedly already left the premises.

He was later found near a church in the same area, allegedly carrying a shotgun. The Ashland Police Department’s Special Response Team was dispatched to the scene. Despite efforts to defuse the situation through negotiation, the confrontation intensified, resulting in officers opening fire on Mohler.

No law enforcement officers were harmed during the incident.
