Desmond McMiller, 21, has been identified as the victim who died following an accidental shooting in Henderson last week, according to police. The Clark County coroner confirmed that McMiller died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities have charged 24-year-old Timmon Betts in connection with the incident. He is facing allegations of reckless behavior leading to death or serious injury, along with charges of evidence tampering.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on April 22 at a residence in the 1200 block of Wigwam Parkway. When officers arrived, they found McMiller in a bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Investigators determined that Betts was handling a firearm in the living room when it unintentionally fired, with the bullet striking McMiller in a separate room. Betts was taken into custody and is currently held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center. His next court appearance is set for May 14.
