Evan Ramon Denny dies in fatal Minneapolis shooting

Fatal Minneapolis shooting death of Evan Ramon Denny – Obituary

Authorities in Minneapolis have identified 27-year-old Evan Ramon Denny as one of the victims killed in a deadly mass shooting that took place late Tuesday night. The incident occurred on the 1500 block of 25th Street East around 11:52 p.m. and left three people dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Denny was among three victims confirmed so far in the mass shooting, alongside 17-year-old Joseph Douglas Goodwin and 20-year-old Merelle Joan White. All three were declared homicide victims by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

James Duane Ortley, age 34, has been formally charged with several counts of murder and attempted murder in connection to the shooting. He was apprehended Thursday afternoon and was scheduled for a court appearance on Friday, which has now been rescheduled for May 5.

In addition to the mass shooting, police are investigating a related fatal shooting that took place on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities believe the death of 34-year-old Tiago Antonio Gilbert, who was gunned down on the 2100 block of 17th Avenue South, may have been an act of retaliation.

A separate shooting on the 3000 block of 15th Avenue South claimed the life of 51-year-old Derrick Lamont Ewing. He died from multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at Hennepin Healthcare. Investigators stated this case is not believed to be linked to the mass shooting.

The investigation into all incidents remains active as authorities work to determine the full scope and motives behind the violence.
