Kayla Dickinson dies in fatal Weld County crash

Fatal Weld County crash death of Kayla Dickinson – Obituary

A fatal crash in Weld County on Wednesday claimed the lives of three people, including 37-year-old Kayla Dickinson of Evans. The collision occurred around 3 p.m. on Highway 85 in Platteville when Dickinson’s GMC Yukon crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Toyota 4Runner near Highway 60.

The crash led to a gas leak and fire, and despite attempts by Colorado State Patrol (CSP) troopers to separate the burning vehicles, all occupants died at the scene. Dickinson’s identity was confirmed, while the name of her passenger remains withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the 4Runner, 57-year-old Christine Ann Schwarz of Mead, was also killed. Schwarz, a seventh-grade science teacher at La Salle North Valley Middle School, was remembered by the community, with classes canceled in her honor. The crash may be linked to a pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle by Weld County deputies, and investigations are ongoing by CSP and the sheriff’s office.
