Fatal McAllen car crash death of Alejandro De Luna – Obituary
Alejandro De Luna, a U.S. Border Patrol agent, lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision in McAllen on Tuesday afternoon. The accident took place around 2 p.m. in the 3200 block of South Ware Road, according to a statement from the McAllen Police Department.
De Luna, who was headed to begin his work shift at the McAllen Border Patrol Station, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when the crash happened. Authorities confirmed that he was not in his official patrol unit at the time. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
The collision involved both a GMC pickup truck and De Luna’s vehicle. One of the vehicles reportedly overturned during the incident. The occupants of the GMC sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken for medical care.
An Honor Walk was held by fellow Border Patrol agents and local law enforcement in tribute to De Luna. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
