David Lindsay McClean, a 46-year-old man from Kansas City, was fatally struck by a tractor trailer early Saturday morning while walking on Interstate 29 near Hamburg, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol reported that the incident occurred around mile marker one, where McClean was unexpectedly crossing the highway for reasons that remain unclear. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Local authorities, including the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Hamburg Fire Department, assisted in managing the crash site. The case is currently under investigation as officials work to determine why McClean was on the roadway.
