Fatal Jersey City shooting death of Devon Reid – Obituary

Devon Reid, a 39-year-old resident of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was shot and killed on Saturday, May 3rd, in Jersey City. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Jersey City police are currently investigating the incident.

Police were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. following reports of a car crash near the intersection of Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Reid unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Merritt Street.

Authorities determined that Reid had been shot in the neck. Emergency responders rushed him to Jersey City Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:16 p.m. The exact cause and manner of death are awaiting confirmation from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
