Fatal Badoc shooting death of Mark Anthony Pahinag Galgalan – Obituary
Mark Anthony Pahinag Galgalan, a 37-year-old carpenter from Sitio Cabuaan in Barangay Napu, Badoc, Ilocos Norte, lost his life on Sunday after being shot in the head. Authorities acted swiftly and arrested the suspect shortly after the incident through a hot pursuit operation.
According to the initial police findings, Galgalan had just arrived to start a drinking session with some acquaintances when a 47-year-old local farmer from the same area approached them carrying a firearm. Witnesses claim the suspect pointed his weapon at Galgalan’s companions, forced the victim to drink, and then shot him in the head without any clear provocation.
Following the shooting, the assailant escaped on a black TMX motorcycle, dressed in shorts and a white shirt, heading eastward. Officers from the Badoc Municipal Police Station quickly initiated a pursuit and managed to catch the suspect at his home, also seizing the motorcycle used in the escape. However, the firearm used in the shooting has not yet been recovered.
A .45 caliber shell casing was retrieved by the Ilocos Norte Provincial Forensic Unit from the location of the incident. Galgalan was rushed to Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac City, where he was declared dead around 12:50 PM during emergency treatment.
Authorities stated that the shooting appears to have stemmed from a personal dispute, dismissing any links to electoral violence. Updates on the case are expected in the coming days.
