Fatal Bergamo, Italy fan stabbing death of Riccardo Claris – Obituary

Riccardo Claris, a 26-year-old supporter of Atalanta, tragically lost his life following a violent clash between Atalanta and Inter Milan fans in Bergamo on Saturday night, May 3, 2025.

The incident began inside a pub in the city when tensions flared after an Inter fan made a provocative chant. The altercation quickly moved to a street near the Atalanta stadium, where an Inter supporter fatally stabbed Claris. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their efforts, they were unable to save Claris.

A male in his late teens was arrested and claimed he acted in defense of his brother. In honor of Claris, Atalanta fans displayed a banner during their team’s victory over Monza, which read “Claris Ovunque con noi” (“Claris everywhere with us”). Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, expressed his sorrow and condemned the violence, stating that such an incident should never happen again.
