Fatal Topeka shooting death of Treveon Carrington – Obituary

A deadly shooting in Topeka on May 2 claimed the life of 27-year-old Treveon Carrington. At approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to the scene near SW 13th and SW Boswell after receiving reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, officers found Carrington with life-threatening injuries, and he was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

Following the investigation, 30-year-old Derrick Mitchell from Topeka was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

This marks the city’s sixth homicide investigation of the year. Authorities continue to investigate the case, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to come forward.
