Fatal Rayne shooting death of Allen Credeur – Obituary

Lt. Allen “Noochie” Credeur, a 47-year-old officer with the Rayne Police Department, was shot and killed while conducting a search warrant in Rayne, Louisiana, on Monday, May 5, 2025.

According to Louisiana State Police, the incident took place around 1:27 p.m. in the 500 block of East Harrop Street near North Chavis Street.

 

Lt. Credeur was struck by gunfire identified as friendly fire during the operation and died at the scene from his injuries. The warrant was being executed in connection with a recent stabbing case, though no additional details have been released about the suspect.

 

Lt. Credeur had served with the Rayne Police Department since 2003, beginning as a reserve officer before moving into full-time service in 2005.

In 2014, he took on responsibilities as a D.A.R.E. officer, dedicating himself to youth education and community engagement. Outside of duty, he was deeply involved in local youth athletics, where he volunteered as a coach and mentor.

 

In a statement, the Rayne Police Department remembered Lt. Credeur as a dedicated officer, a cherished colleague, and a role model who was passionate about his community. He is survived by his fiancée Danielle Demette and his brother, Sgt. Joseph Credeur.

 

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, with Louisiana State Police working to determine all the facts surrounding the tragic event. Funeral and memorial details will be announced at a later time.
