Fatal Adair County car crash death of David King – Obituary
David King, a sixth-grade student at Adair County Middle School, passed away over the weekend from injuries he sustained in a crash caused by a drunk driver. His death marks the third time this school year that an Adair County student has died in an alcohol-related traffic incident.
Earlier in the school year, two other tragic losses occurred due to drunk driving: Skyler Huckaby, another student from Adair Middle School, was killed in April, and a second-grade student lost their life in a DUI crash in December.
Adair County Schools Superintendent Jason Faulkner expressed deep sorrow and emphasized the strong community support in response to these tragedies. He stressed the urgent need to raise awareness about the consequences of impaired driving, noting that two separate vehicle crashes stemming from poor decisions have now taken three young lives.
In response, the school district is providing grief counselors and support from local church youth pastors to help students and staff cope. Superintendent Faulkner also announced plans for increased efforts to educate the community on the dangers of driving under the influence.
David King’s mother shared that his organs were donated in hopes of saving others, offering a measure of hope amid the family’s heartbreak.
