Israel Medina dies in fatal Lynn Township car crash

Fatal Lynn Township car crash death of Israel Medina – Obituary

Israel Medina, a 19-year-old from New York City, was one of three individuals killed in a devastating two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Lynn Township, Pennsylvania. Medina was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 3:40 p.m., according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

The accident also claimed the lives of 21-year-old Vannity I. Colon of Allentown and 61-year-old Jeffrey Pichel of Fountain Hill. Colon also died at the scene, while Pichel succumbed to his injuries early Monday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Pennsylvania State Police in Fogelsville reported that Medina had been riding in a 2013 Hyundai Accent driven by a 54-year-old woman from Allentown. Around 2:30 p.m., the vehicle veered across the center line on Route 309 and collided head-on with a 2021 Jeep Compass driven by a 30-year-old woman from Fountain Hill.

Medina and Colon were passengers in the Hyundai. Pichel, the third victim, was the sole passenger in the Jeep.

Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest for treatment. Their medical conditions were not made public.

Officials said slick road conditions likely contributed to the crash, as the area was experiencing heavy rainfall at the time. Traffic near Gun Club Road on Route 309 was shut down for more than an hour during the emergency response and investigation.

The Pennsylvania State Police are continuing to investigate the crash with assistance from specialized units including the Troop M Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy results are pending.
