Fatal Forest Park shooting death of Jaden Smith – Obituary
An 18-year-old named Jaden Smith lost his life following a shooting incident Monday evening in Forest Park, Ohio.
Authorities responded shortly before 7 p.m. to a call about gunfire at an apartment complex located in the 700 block of Northland Boulevard. Smith was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Forest Park police have arrested 38-year-old Domynic Elahee in connection with the incident. According to court documents, a dispute reportedly broke out between Smith and Elahee’s 11-year-old son, escalating into a confrontation at the entrance of Apartment F, where Elahee allegedly shot Smith in the chest.
Officers took Elahee into custody shortly after the shooting. He has been charged with murder, with police citing his own statements, investigative findings, and the victim’s death as the basis for the charge.
Elahee’s attorney is arguing self-defense, claiming Smith had arrived at the residence armed. However, investigators testified in court that they found no firearm on or near Smith.
The case is set to go before a grand jury, with Elahee scheduled to return to court on May 15 for further proceedings.
