Fatal Spanaway shooting death of Julien Johnson – Obituary

Julien Johnson, a 17-year-old from Lakewood, was killed in a shooting that took place on April 23 in a Spanaway neighborhood, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. The teen died from a gunshot wound to his torso, and his death has been officially ruled a homicide.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:36 p.m. to the 17400 block of 17th Avenue East after residents reported hearing gunfire. Witnesses described hearing between 20 and 30 shots before discovering Johnson lying unresponsive in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Law enforcement later reported that the area was strewn with shell casings and that stray bullets struck nearby houses and vehicles. Fortunately, no one else was injured in the incident.

An online memorial for Julien Johnson has been established by the National Gun Violence Memorial, an organization dedicated to preserving the memories of gun violence victims.

Carly Cappetto, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, confirmed on Monday that the investigation is still underway and that no arrests have been made at this time.
