Authorities in St. Louis are investigating the death of 48-year-old Lachonda Valentine, who was discovered shot inside a home on South Grand Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

Police responded around 2:30 p.m. to a residence in the 4100 block of South Grand in the Dutchtown area following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Valentine with a gunshot wound and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Investigators are currently treating the case as a death investigation, awaiting final confirmation from the medical examiner regarding the exact cause of death.
