Naysha Mendez dies in fatal New Haven homicide

Fatal New Haven homicide death of Naysha Mendez – Obituary

Authorities in New Haven have identified the woman found dead near Evergreen Cemetery on Friday night as 35-year-old Naysha Mendez. Her death has now been officially ruled a homicide following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The incident began shortly before 8:00 p.m. when police were alerted to a suspicious death in the area. Responding officers discovered Mendez deceased near the cemetery, prompting a full investigation over the weekend.

Detectives processed the scene in the days following and continue to work on determining the circumstances leading to her death. Investigators have stated this appears to be an isolated case and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

New Haven Police are encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the department’s detective bureau to assist with the ongoing case.
