Fatal Lynn Township car crash death of Vannity I. Colon – Obituary
Vannity I. Colon, a 21-year-old from Allentown, tragically lost her life in a deadly two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Lynn Township, according to local authorities. She was one of three people who died in the accident.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Colon died at the crash scene shortly after 3:40 p.m. along with 19-year-old Israel Medina of New York City. The third victim, 61-year-old Jeffrey Pichel of Fountain Hill, passed away the next morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest due to injuries from the crash.
Pennsylvania State Police said Colon was a passenger in a 2013 Hyundai Accent driven by a 54-year-old Allentown woman. The Hyundai was traveling north on Route 309 around 2:30 p.m. when it crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with a 2021 Jeep Compass driven by a 30-year-old woman from Fountain Hill.
The Jeep carried one passenger—Jeffrey Pichel—while the Hyundai held two passengers, including Colon and Medina.
Both drivers were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment, though their conditions were not disclosed.
Investigators suspect weather conditions played a role in the crash, as rain created slick roadways throughout the region. Route 309 near Gun Club Road was closed for over an hour while emergency responders and investigators worked the scene.
The case remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police in Fogelsville, with assistance from specialized units and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies are pending to determine the precise causes of death.
