Fatal Baton Rouge house fire deaths of Vinnie Thomassie Jr. and Albert Jackson – Obituary

Authorities in Baton Rouge have confirmed that 39-year-old Vinnie Thomassie Jr. and 47-year-old Albert Jackson lost their lives in a house fire on Hollywood Street Sunday, which investigators say started due to unattended cooking.

Emergency crews responded to the blaze and managed to extinguish it within 24 minutes. While three residents managed to flee the home, firefighters were unable to reach Thomassie and Jackson in time.

According to officials, one survivor told first responders he had stepped away from the kitchen while cooking and returned to find the home engulfed in flames. Although the house was completely destroyed, firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, including a neighboring church.
