Fatal 40 Freeway crash near Newberry Springs death of Bryce Martinez and three children – Obituary

Bryce Martinez, 35, of Yermo, and three children tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash on the 40 Freeway near Newberry Springs on Sunday, May 4. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. when the 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck, carrying Martinez and his children, veered off the roadway. The vehicle overturned multiple times on a dirt shoulder, resulting in the death of all four individuals at the scene.

The passengers in the truck were identified as 10-year-old Sailor Martinez, 15-year-old Trent Martinez, and 16-year-old Cole Martinez, all of Barstow. The crash is still under investigation, and intoxication is not believed to have been a factor at this time, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact Officer S. Herrera of the CHP’s Barstow Area Office.

The cause of the crash remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
