Authorities are investigating the death of 43-year-old Robert Dustin Burleson, who was found shot to death early Wednesday morning in his Sumter home. At approximately 5 a.m., emergency responders were called to a residence on Dink Street in the Lakeview neighborhood, where they discovered Burleson’s body, the apparent victim of a gunshot wound.

Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis has confirmed that multiple leads are being pursued in the investigation. He expressed confidence that the case will result in an arrest. An autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of Charleston to determine the exact cause of death.
