Fatal U.S. Highway 79 crash death of Cecilia Marston – Obituary

Cecilia Marston, a 55-year-old woman from Homer, Louisiana, lost her life in a collision that took place on the evening of May 6, 2025, on U.S. Highway 79 near Louisiana Highway 518.

Authorities say Marston was driving her 2017 Nissan Versa northbound when, for reasons still unknown, her vehicle veered across the centerline and crashed head-on into a southbound 2015 Freightliner Cascadia. Despite being properly restrained, Marston sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at a hospital where she had been taken for treatment.

The driver of the Freightliner, who was also wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Louisiana State Police do not currently suspect impairment on Marston’s part, though routine toxicology tests have been ordered. The crash remains under investigation.
