Dion Williams dies in fatal St. Thomas shooting

Fatal St. Thomas shooting death of Dion Williams – Obituary

Police have confirmed that 26-year-old Dion Williams was the victim in a deadly shooting that occurred Sunday night near Carnival Village on St. Thomas.

The Virgin Islands Police Department reported that its Shot Spotter system picked up numerous gunshots in the Fort Pladsen area around the same time a 911 call came in about two men being shot. Responding officers found both victims wounded, and Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs at 11:59 p.m., showing no signs of life.

Williams’ death is the fifth homicide on St. Thomas and the twelfth across the U.S. Virgin Islands so far in 2025, based on local tracking.

The incident followed a separate shooting that took place late Saturday night inside Carnival Village, where 26-year-old Franky Matthew was also killed. That shooting led to the early closure of the Carnival Village just after midnight.

Investigations into both shootings remain active, and authorities are urging anyone with details to reach out to the VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau or submit tips anonymously via Crime Stoppers USVI.
