Ten-year-old Elijah Rodriguez, a resident of Gloucester County, was tragically shot and killed inside his South Jersey residence on Tuesday, May 6. Authorities arrived at the home located on the 400 block of Westminster Boulevard, where they discovered Elijah had died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to Washington Township police.
Elijah, a student at Birches Elementary School, was reportedly alone in the house at the time of the incident, as reported by NJ.com.
In the wake of the tragedy, a fundraiser has been launched to support Elijah’s family. “We are devastated to announce the loss of our beloved Elijah, who passed away at only 10 years old,” his family wrote. “He filled our lives with joy, laughter, and love, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.”
Elijah leaves behind his parents and two sisters. As of Friday, May 9, nearly $29,000 had been raised to support the grieving family.
