Joe Anthony Mendoza dies in fatal Houston party shooting

Joe Anthony Mendoza dies in fatal Houston party shooting

Fatal Houston shooting death of Joe Anthony Mendoza – Obituary

Joe Anthony Mendoza, an 18-year-old from Houston, was killed in a shooting that broke out at a family party early Sunday morning on Cherryhill Road in southeast Houston. The tragic event occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a home hosting a party with over 100 attendees.

Police report that the altercation began when an uninvited guest was asked to leave the gathering. As he was exiting, he allegedly drew a weapon and began shooting, with others at the party returning fire. The exchange of gunfire resulted in Mendoza’s death, and 15 others were injured, ranging in age from 16 to 40.

Emergency personnel set up a triage center in a nearby fast-food parking lot to treat the wounded. While some victims were critically hurt, no updates on their conditions have been released. Authorities have questioned multiple individuals, but no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly named.

Mendoza, who had recently completed a welding training program, was the second oldest of seven brothers. His family, grieving his loss, described him as always being there for those who needed him. A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $12,000 to help cover funeral expenses.

Mendoza’s friend, Christian Sanchez, recounted the heartbreaking final moments, saying that Mendoza’s last words were asking them not to let him go before he passed away in the back of a pickup truck.
