Fatal Groton, Connecticut crash death of Vanessa Pettengill – Obituary

Vanessa Pettengill, a 45-year-old resident of Norwich, lost her life following a devastating vehicle accident in Groton on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities responded around 1:22 p.m. to Fort Hill Road, between Depot and South Roads, after receiving several 911 calls about a serious crash.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a vehicle with two occupants, both unresponsive inside.

According to the investigation, the car had been traveling eastbound when it veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole situated in front of an apartment complex.

Medical teams arrived at the scene to administer aid, and Pettengill was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

The other person in the vehicle and further details about their condition have not been released.

Groton police are still looking into what caused the crash and have asked anyone with information to reach out at 860-441-6712.
