Fatal Santa Ana school stabbing death of Armando Morales – Obituary
A 14-year-old student, Armando Morales of Santa Ana, was fatally stabbed outside Santa Ana High School on Wednesday in what authorities say was a gang-related attack. The violence took place around 3:20 p.m. in a shared parking lot near Heninger Elementary School, shortly after school dismissal.
Armando was one of three boys, aged 14, 15, and 16, taken to the hospital following the incident. While the other two are expected to survive, Armando tragically succumbed to his injuries.
A fellow 14-year-old student has been charged in Juvenile Court with murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the stabbings. Due to his age, the suspect’s identity has not been released. His 17-year-old brother also turned himself in, though it remains unclear if he will face any charges.
Authorities confirmed that both the suspect and his older brother are known gang members, and that the victims—aside from Armando—are affiliated with a rival gang.
In response, the school district increased security around Santa Ana High and neighboring campuses and provided grief counselors to help students cope. A memorial made up of flowers has since appeared outside the school in honor of Armando Morales.
