Fatal Berthoud shooting death of Jennifer Lynn James – Obituary

Jennifer Lynn James, 49, was fatally shot inside her home in Berthoud on the night of April 28, according to authorities. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office confirmed she died from a gunshot wound to the chest, which has been ruled a homicide.

Deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, along with a Colorado State Patrol trooper, responded to a call around 11:20 p.m. and found James with a gunshot injury. Despite their efforts to provide emergency aid, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators discovered two apparent bullet holes in the front of her home, located in the 500 block of First Street. Evidence indicated that the shots had been fired from the road directly in front of the residence.

After examining surveillance footage from the area, authorities identified 20-year-old Ebenezer Worku of Denver as the suspect. He was arrested on May 1 and is facing a first-degree murder charge. Worku remains in the Larimer County Jail on a $1.25 million cash-only bond and made a court appearance on May 9. His next hearing is scheduled for June 6.

As the case proceeds, it is important to note that charges are allegations and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
