Fatal Louisville shooting death of Laith Rajha – Obituary
Laith Rajha, a 17-year-old boy from Louisville, has died following a shooting that occurred in the Valley Station area. The incident took place on May 6 in the 13000 block of Bold Forbes Boulevard, and Rajha succumbed to his injuries two days later, on May 8, at UofL Hospital.
Authorities arrested 18-year-old Jamal Sheikh just hours after the shooting. Surveillance footage from the apartment complex captured Sheikh in a vehicle with a distinctive window decal, which police later found. Sheikh waived his Miranda rights and told detectives he had altered the appearance of the vehicle because he believed it was being sought. He also admitted to transporting three individuals to the location to meet Rajha for a gun-related exchange.
Sheikh is barred from having firearms and is scheduled to appear in court again on May 16 as the investigation continues.
