Fatal Cape Girardeau shooting death of Micah Ledbetter – Obituary
Micah Ledbetter, a 22-year-old resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, lost her life following a shooting that occurred Friday afternoon on Whitener Street, which also left another individual injured.
Cape Girardeau police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1500 block of Whitener shortly before 1 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, who was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
While police were still on the scene, another victim, later identified as Micah Ledbetter, arrived separately at a local hospital with a more serious gunshot injury. Despite medical efforts, she later died as a result of the wound.
An investigation launched by the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad led to the arrest of 27-year-old Deandra Leeann Patterson. She has been formally charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Her bond has been set at $1 million, cash-only.
